Infosys among China's 100 'liaison' outsourcing firms

Infosys is the only India-headquartered vendor listed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce as one of China's 100 Key Liaison Service Outsourcing companies.

In a statement Thursday, Infosys said its "well-rounded portfolio of capabilities, exemplary performance, and strong growth in China" helped pave its way to the list.?The Indian IT outsourcing services provider has more than 3,300 employees in China, with operations in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Hangzhou, and Jiaxing. It supports both local enterprises as well multinational companies in China, the vendor said.

It is looking to increase its presence in China, with plans to build a development center in Minghang, Shanhai, which will have a capacity to accommodate 10,000 employees.

According to Infosys, service outsourcing is a key industry in China with the Ministry of Commerce governing the industry. China has 21 service outsourcing base cities which enjoy government support in talent development and business-friendly tax structure to encourage outsourcing companies to set up shop in the Chinese market.

Most of the other vendors listed in the 100 Key Liaison Service Outsourcing were Chinese companies including?Zhuhai Goldpac Secure-Card and?Eastcompeace.

In October, Infosys reported flat revenues for the second quarter of 2012 due to the ongoing global economic uncertainties. The vendor said it was expecting revenues for the financial year, ending Mar. 30, to grow 5 percent and reach US$7.3 billion, but these numbers were weaker than what analysts had anticipated.
